**The primary purpose of this position is to**provide audio-visual support services in the National Museum of the USAF; perform services that support the museum, overseeing and assisting daily operations of the museum complex and historical heritage; provide expertise and knowledge of historical property; and ensure employees and visitors safety during emergency situations.

### Responsibilities
* - Serves as the Museum?s audio-visual specialist on all audio-visual matters.
* - Provides audio-visual support for NMUSAF special events and manages and maintains the audio-visual production capabilities for historical documentation, archival purposes, operations, special events, and other NMUSAF functions.
* - Develops, coordinates, directs, controls, and monitors all facets of daily national-level museum operations.
* - Coordinates and directs the planning, organization, control, and implementation of Museum emergency management activities to protect and maintain public safety.

* Incumbent is required to work an uncommon tour of duty. Tour of duty will require incumbent to work weekends and holidays. Hours of duty will change with the tour of duty.
* Incumbent may be required to work overtime or comp time, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays on short notice.
* Travel to other locations by military or commercial air, or other modes of travel may be required, in accordance with the Joint Travel Regulations (JTR).

* Requires lifting materials weighing up to 50lbs and pushing and pulling heavy objects.
* Considerable time must be spent on the Museum exhibit floor and other locations within the Museum complex to include outside on the grounds.
* The incumbent may be exposed to all types of weather conditions in the planning or execution of special events.
* This position meets the administrative exemption criteria for the Fair Labor Standards Act (5 CFR 551.206).

### Qualifications
**SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:** Applicants must have or will have at least one (1) year of specialized experience within 90 days of the closing date, at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience includes extensive knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices to include security, safety, medical and emergency procedures of a modern public museum in order to provide a variety of audio-visual support, capabilities, equipment, visual production techniques, safety and security practices that support the Museum's mission, goals, policies, capabilities, and resources in order to meet customer needs.

EDUCATION:** Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, or LL.M., if related. NOTE: You must submit a copy of official transcripts.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:** A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of official transcripts.

**FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS:** Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-­grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):**Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
* Expert knowledge of the operations, maintenance, and interoperability of a wide variety of audio-visual equipment systems.
* Ability to analyze customer requirements to provide support in a wide variety of audio-visual formats. Ability to translate customer requirements into audio-visual taskings within the Museum's capabilities and resources to best meet the customer's requirements.
* Thorough knowledge of the Museum's audio-visual capabilities and equipment as well as audio-visual production techniques for the production of audio-visual materials for use within the NMUSAF and to meet customer needs. Thorough knowledge of editing equipment and techniques to perform post-production work on audio-visual materials.
* Knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices of a modern public museum, which provides entertainment and educational services for the general public and facilities. Ability to independently determine best practices for the day-to-day display of the NMUSAF's valuable artifact collection.
* Comprehensive knowledge of NMUSAF mission, goals, and policies.
* Comprehensive knowledge of daily operating policies to include security, safety, medical and emergency procedures.
* Knowledge of facilities, grounds, security, fire, and communication systems, and electrical and mechanical systems.
* Comprehensive knowledge of laws, regulations, policies, and practices applicable to assigned area of responsibility.
* Knowledge of Air Force and aviation history or where to obtain requested information.
* Knowledge of protocol practices and procedures.
* Ability in interpersonal communications.
**PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE:**Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
**VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE:** Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The "certification" must be signed by, or by direction of, the adjutant, personnel officer, or commander of your unit or higher headquarters and must indicate when your terminal leave will begin (if applicable), your rank, dates of active duty service, the type of discharge and character of service (i.e. honorable). Further, under paragraph (h) of the rule, agencies are required to verify a qualifying separation from military service prior to appointment, through the DD-214 or other appropriate documentation. Active duty members that fail to provide a valid "certification" of service with their initial application will be found "not eligible."
